{"id":9,"date":"2018-04-23T09:45:59","date_gmt":"2018-04-23T07:45:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gaudi.ch\/GaudiShop\/?post_type=product&#038;p=9"},"modified":"2024-10-28T14:05:57","modified_gmt":"2024-10-28T12:05:57","slug":"opendrop","status":"publish","type":"product","link":"https:\/\/gaudishop.ch\/index.php\/product\/opendrop\/","title":{"rendered":"OpenDrop V3 &#8211; Digital Microfluidics Development Board"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OpenDrop V3 is the newest edition of the popular <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gaudi.ch\/OpenDrop\/\">OpenDrop Digital Microfluidics Platform<\/a> with a lot of new features.<\/p>\n<p>The OpenDrop devices is based on 14\u00d78 electrode array + 4 reservoirs integrated into the printed circuit board. The liquids stay on a thin, hydrophobic foil attached to the droplet carrier. The device is powered through as USB-C to USB-A cable. The voltage level can be set with the built in soft menu from 150-300 Volts, DC or AC.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hydrophobic Liquid Carrier<\/strong><br \/>\nThe gold coated conductive electrodes of the device must be covered with a hydrophobic foil that carry the liquids. This hydrophobic foil is currently not provided with the device. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gaudi.ch\/OpenDrop\/?p=116\">Instructions on how to produce<\/a> it can be found on the OpenDrop website. For simple topless applications parafilm and thin silicon oil works great. In topless configuration you may need to discharge the droplets as they may carry electrical charges that prevent them from moving.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Programming<\/strong><br \/>\nThe OpenDrop is compatible with Adafruit Feather M0 controller boards and can be programmed through the free <a href=\"http:\/\/arduino.cc\/en\/Guide\/HomePage\">Arduino IDE<\/a>. The electrodes are addressed in a x-y coordinate system.
